General OS Shortcuts

  • Command + Space Bar : Open Spotlight Search [This is the biggest one!]

  • Command + X : Cut

  • Command + C : Copy

  • Command + V : Paste

  • Command + Shift + 3 : Full-screen screenshot

  • Command + Shift + 4 : Selectable rectangular screenshot

  • Command + Shift + 5 : Crop-able pre-selected screenshot with graphical options

  • Option : Reveals extra options in most OS and app menus

  • Command + Q : Quit an app. [Closing via the red ‘X’ in the top left corner closes the window while leaving the app open.]

  • Command + Control + Q : Lock your laptop

  • Command + Shift + . : Show / hide hidden files and folders in a Finder window

  • Option + Drag & Drop : Create a copy of the file at the destination

  • Command + Option + V : Move copied file to new location

Apple Mail

  • Control + Command + A : Archive the highlighted mail [one or multiple].

Formatting Text

  • Command + K : Insert a link into text
  • Command + B : Bold / un-bold text
  • Command + I : Italics text
  • Command + U : Underline text
  • Command + A : Select all
  • Command + Z : Undo

Browser Shortcuts

  • Command + T : Open a new tab
  • Command + L : Jump to address bar
  • Command + R : Refresh page
  • Command + F : Search on page
